99th
ASTAG
A virtual air combat squadron with a history built on flying together, mutual respect, and lasting camaraderie.
Who we are
The 99th Aggressor Squadron began with 17 former Skylords pilots on December 9, 1999, at 9:00 p.m. Through changes in games and generations of pilots, the 99th has remained a place for people who value teamwork, professionalism, and the friendships formed in the virtual skies.
Every member stands on equal footing. Leadership is a responsibility to the squadron, not a rank above its pilots.
Our history
What began as a group of pilots flying together became a squadron that has endured for decades.
Seventeen former Skylords pilots form the 99th Aggressor Squadron in Sim Guild Flying Circus.
The squadron flies in Dawn of Aces and WarBirds, carrying its identity into new virtual skies.
The 99th moves to Aces High, where its pilots continue to fly.
Members remain connected in the air and beyond it. The 99th name still means something to those who have worn it.

Jay was there in the 99th’s formative days. He helped develop the squadron and took an active part in building the group that so many pilots would come to call their own. He brought energy, humour, and a fierce pride in being part of the 99th.
His roster entry calls him “Token Hillbilly.... AKA Capt Planet.” That playful line captures a little of the spirit his squadron mates knew. Behind the callsign was a friend who cared deeply about this outfit and the people in it.
Outside the virtual skies, Jay spent years working behind the camera, including work with Universal Studios. His fellow pilots also remember his involvement with an ABBA-related project known to them as Chasing Abba. He had a life and craft beyond the game, and he brought that same lively presence into the squadron.
Jay helped make the 99th what it became. We remember his friendship, his contribution, and the pride he took in flying with us.
